I suddenly want to hear “Yuzuki Ya,” with its heavy use of melisma like “Rai Rai Ya.”

“Rai Rai Ya” doesn’t draw me in as much as “Yuzuki Ya.”

I like “Yuzuki Ya,” but “Rai Rai Ya” is just... I hope I’ll come to like it after hearing the full version.

The songs resemble one another because they’re all written by Yuri Nakamura. It’s perfectly normal for songs someone writes to resemble their other songs. If they were all completely different, it might actually mean there was a ghostwriter—or that everything had been handed to someone else.

Rather than being angry at the stores that didn’t display it, I’m more upset that GARNET hasn’t reached the level where it gets recognized and stocked everywhere. It was too much trouble, so I ordered it from Amazon.

When I listened to the CD, the whole thing felt a little thin, or rather, too small-scale compared with the sense of scale the song ought to have. Is the bass too quiet? This song really needs the thick, powerful vocal delivery they used live. The second and third tracks are good, though. That’s exactly why it’s more frustrating.

Most importantly, the back of the sleeve isn’t an anime image. That’s good.

I finally got to hear it! Even though it’s this late, my excitement just keeps building! In “Rai Rai Ya,” the final る in “tsunagaru” sounds almost like an う. It’s practically a demonstration of the English [l] sound, with the tongue tip pressed firmly against the alveolar ridge. Maybe Yurippe’s English pronunciation is better than her Japanese pronunciation. The intro to “over blow” really does sound like “in little.” Is this single generally pitched low? Anyone with perfect pitch, please tell me the highest note in the chest voice.

I’ve glimpsed the sharp poetic talent of Ms. AZUKI. “The means to an end” is usually translated as “a means toward an objective,” but here the “end”—the ending of the relationship between two people—has room for expansion in meaning. It’s an incredibly clever choice of words. Sorry for rambling on for so long.
