GARNET CROW Chronicle

GARNET CROW was formed by Yuri Nakamura, AZUKI Nana, Hirohito Furui, and Hitoshi Okamoto, all music creators affiliated with Being.

In February 2000, it topped the indie chart of Kyoto FM station α-station for three consecutive weeks.

They made their major-label debut with the single Mysterious Eyes, used as a theme song for Detective Conan.

The band's major-label debut and the opening theme for Detective Conan, released on the same day as 君の家に着くまでずっと走ってゆく. It debuted at No. 20 on Oricon and remained in the Top 100 for ten weeks.

A rearranged version of the title track from the indie mini-album. It received the most FM radio power plays nationwide in April and debuted at No. 40 on Oricon.

A single release of a song from the indie mini-album. It was the campaign song for MFTV's I'm MUSIC FREAK.

The first release in the three-month consecutive single series. It was used in a television commercial for 重夢.

The ending theme for Detective Conan and the second release in the three-month consecutive single series.

AZUKI Nana wrote the lyrics, while Okamoto recorded everything else at home. This maxi single also includes joyride and Res-no.

The theme song for the PlayStation game テイルズ オブ エターニア, the band's first game theme song, and the final release in the three-month consecutive single series.

It debuted at No. 6 on the Oricon album chart and contains all of the band's singles released up to that point, for a total of 12 tracks.

The thread ▲GARNET CROW超最高▲ was opened on a music-focused anonymous message board and became a fan hub lasting over ten years and more than 400 threads.

Released about seven months after its predecessor, this maxi single was recorded at home apart from the acoustic-guitar part. It also includes Happy Trash and First fine day Go! Go! remix.

Yuri Nakamura and AZUKI Nana promoted call my name, released on August 8, at record shops in Ikebukuro, Shibuya, and Shinjuku. They also appeared on a live radio program for the first time.

Yuri Nakamura contributed a cover of Groove Theory's Tell Me.

She sang a cover of Groove Theory's Tell Me. Nakamura said this was her first time singing in front of an audience.

The program aired every other Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m. It was Okamoto's first time serving as a radio personality.

To promote 夢みたあとで, they appeared on a series of music programs: Nippon Television's AX Music factory on March 12; TV Asahi's ミュージックステーション on March 15, their first live television broadcast; TV Tokyo's melodix! on March 19; Nippon Television's 速報！歌の大辞テン!! on March 20; TBS's CDTV-Neo on March 22; and TV Tokyo's musix! on March 24.

The album contains eight songs from his two solo singles. AZUKI Nana wrote the lyrics, while Interlude-click me was Okamoto's first attempt at writing lyrics.

It debuted at No. 4 on the Oricon album chart.

Yuri Nakamura contributed a cover of JAN AND DEAN's THE LITTLE OLD LADY FROM PASADENA（パサデナのおばあちゃん）.

She performed with Experience as 9 sisters, a group formed with Mai Kuraki, Rina Aiuchi, and other GIZA singers. Five shows were held: Awaji Yumebutai on July 26, Zushi Marina on July 30, Hokkaido Koseinenkin Hall on August 26, Nagoya Century Hall on September 2, and Fukuoka Sunpalace on September 10.

The image song for Fuji TV's 感動ファクトリーすぽると！. It debuted at No. 7 on Oricon.

They appeared on TV Asahi's ミュージックステーション and Nippon Television's AX on August 16, followed by TBS's CDTV Neo on August 30.

The three scheduled shows at Namba Hatch on October 10, Akasaka BLITZ on October 21, and Zepp Fukuoka on October 31 sold out on the day tickets went on sale. Additional shows followed at SHIBUYA-AX on December 11 and Namba Hatch on December 16.

They performed on the outdoor stage at Kobe University's Rokko Festival. It was GARNET CROW's first outdoor event and first appearance at a campus festival.

This standing-room performance in Nagoya took place between the regular and additional dates of their first tour.

This live DVD documents the 2002 summer MAI-K&FRIENDS HOTROD BEACH PARTY, in which Yuri Nakamura performed as a member of 9 sisters.

The December ending theme for TBS's Pooh! It debuted at No. 10 on Oricon and was performed ahead of its release during the encore of the first tour.

They appeared after the release of their 12th single, クリスタル・ゲージ.

They performed with Mai Kuraki and Rina Aiuchi at a public dress rehearsal for a Valentine's concert. The performance was streamed online.

This concert book is based on the first GARNET CROW LIVE TOUR 2002 ~first live scope~.

They performed with Mai Kuraki and Rina Aiuchi at Nippon Budokan on February 13 and 14, then at Osaka Festival Hall on February 17 and 18. It was their first appearance on a large-scale stage.

The DVD contains the Akasaka BLITZ show from their first tour and behind-the-scenes footage, with a total running time of 100 minutes. It reached No. 2 on the music DVD chart.

They appeared on the music program Music Station shortly before the release of Kimi to Iu Hikari.

The coupling track of TAK MATSUMOTO featuring Mai Kuraki's イミテイション・ゴールド is Nakamura's cover of Carmen Maki & OZ's 私は風.

It debuted at No. 5 on the Oricon album chart. The track 永遠を駆け抜ける一瞬の僕ら was used as the ending theme for TBS's サンデージャポン.

The image song for Fuji TV's 感動ファクトリーすぽると！. It debuted at No. 7 on Oricon.

They appeared on NTV's AX MUSIC-TV 01 on January 15, TV Asahi's ミュージックステーション on January 16, and TBS's COUNT DOWN TV on January 17. An appearance on NHK's POP JAM was scheduled for January 24.

Hitoshi Okamoto was the main act, with Yuri Nakamura, AZUKI Nana, and Hirohito Furui as guests. It was a special appearance by all four members before the national tour, and Okamoto's first live performance as a vocalist.

The five-show tour visited Osaka, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Aichi, and Shibuya. During the encore, they performed the unreleased song 雨上がりのBlue, followed by 千以上の言葉を並べても... with Hitoshi Okamoto on vocals.

Released on the same day as the 16th single 君を飾る花を咲かそう, the DVD contains all 21 songs from the tour, including the unreleased 雨上がりのBlue, as well as interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.

Hitoshi Okamoto was the main act, with Yuri Nakamura, AZUKI Nana, and Hirohito Furui as special guests. The tickets sold out immediately, and the new song 忘れ咲き was performed for the first time.

The two GARNET CROW members appeared as guests at a show headlined by the★tambourines.

Released two years and eight months after his first album and on the same day as GARNET CROW's 忘れ咲き, this eight-track album was recorded entirely at home. It includes a cover of Badfinger's no matter what and Okamoto's first self-cover, telepathy.

It contains 13 tracks, including 雨上がりのBlue, which was performed ahead of its release during the tour.

They appeared on Nippon Television's 音楽戦士 MUSIC FIGHTER on December 10 and TV Tokyo's 月刊 MelodiX! on December 18.

This was GARNET CROW's first solo appearance there and the final THURSDAY LIVE of 2004. Admission was limited to 220 people, and all 15 songs were original compositions.

The three-show tour visited Osaka, Aichi, and Nakano Sunplaza. During the encore, they performed the new song 「さよなら」とたった一言で... for the first time, followed by Last love song with Hitoshi Okamoto on vocals.

Hirohito Furui and Hitoshi Okamoto supervised the remix collection and also worked on the track production themselves. It received a formal release on June 29 under the title GARNET CROW REMIXES.

Okamoto headlined, with Miwa Kitazora and Furui as guests. Flats, formed by Ayako Nakahira and Yumiko Ohira, opened the show; both had previously sung backing vocals on GARNET CROW tours.

The two-disc, 145-minute set looks back on five years through music videos, behind-the-scenes footage, and the 2002 Kobe University festival performance. Disc 2 contains the complete livescope 2005 tour, and the first pressing included a 40-page concert photo book.

A two-disc fifth-anniversary best album containing 28 tracks, including all 18 singles. The first press edition included an entry postcard for invitations to the special fifth-anniversary concert.

GARNET CROW premium live ~happy 5th anniversary~ was held at Osaka City Central Public Hall on December 16 and 17. Admission was by invitation, with 800 people per day selected by postcard lottery from first press copies of Best. The new song 春待つ花のように was performed for the first time as an encore.

This instrumental work by Hirohito Furui was distributed through BGV.JP, the iTunes Music Store, and mora.

The two shows were held on February 13 and 14. The new song 籟・来・也, released on March 1, was performed for the first time during the encore.

The image song for the TBS Canon Special 古代発掘ミステリー. It was the band's first image song for a documentary program, and they also produced its soundtrack.

The theme song for TV Asahi's 新・科捜研の女, the band's first television-drama tie-in, and the third release in the three-month consecutive single series. A limited run of 100 copies signed by the members was also shipped as the まぼろし edition.

The pop-up cafe ran from September 18 to 24. Its opening day included an advance listening session for THE TWILIGHT VALLEY, with member-inspired original menu items and signed discs on display.

The band's first original album in about two years. It includes 春待つ花のように, first performed at the 2005 premium live.

The two shows, at WelCity Osaka Koseinenkin Hall on December 6 and Nakano Sunplaza on December 20, sold out immediately. The band added strings to the lineup and performed the new songs 風とRAINBOW and この手を伸ばせば for the first time.

The band's first single released under two titles at the same time. The two songs served as the opening and ending themes, respectively, for the TV Tokyo anime メルヘヴン. It debuted at No. 6 on Oricon.

Held on June 17 and July 7, the event opened with an acoustic performance followed by a talk and quiz.

The DVD documents the December 2006 tour. The first press edition included a CD of live recordings selected by the members, the band's first live audio release on CD.

The opening theme for Detective Conan, their first Conan theme song since Mysterious Eyes seven years earlier. It was also their 100th song when singles and album tracks were counted from the indie period onward.

This was the first event to bring together four singer-songwriters from GIZA. Okamoto made his first appearance at the venue that year, performing five solo works and covers.

Hirohito Furui and Hitoshi Okamoto also participated as touring musicians. The concerts were held at Osaka Festival Hall on September 6 and 7 and Nippon Budokan on September 14.

This outdoor special concert commemorating the group's seventh year was held at Ninna-ji in Ukyo, Kyoto. They performed 20 songs with strings before an audience of 3,000, including the first performance of the new single 世界はまわると言うけれど during the encore.

The first press A edition included a DVD of the concert at Ninna-ji, while the first press B edition included a music-video DVD.

To mark their eighth anniversary, GARNET TIME returned as a special edition. All four members took part in production, and the program was streamed on Yahoo! Video and GyaO through September 8.

The ending theme for the TV Tokyo anime ゴルゴ13. It entered Oricon's Top 10.

All dates at JCB Hall in Tokyo and Osaka Koseinenkin Hall sold out. It was the band's first summer tour, and the title of the next single, 百年の孤独, was announced at the Osaka show.

The theme song for the film 真救世主伝説 北斗の拳 ZERO ケンシロウ伝. It entered Oricon's Top 10.

At fans' request, the October 20, 2007 Ninna-ji performance was released as a video work containing all 20 songs.

The ending theme for Detective Conan, and another Top 10 single on Oricon. The coupling track Nora was used as the theme song for ABC Asahi Broadcasting's 家族レッスン.

The two-disc release documents the Tokyo JCB Hall show from the 2008 summer tour, with 25 songs in total. It was released on the same day as the single Doing all right.

The band's 30th single and the ending theme for TBS's 噂の！東京マガジン.

Held at Dojima River Forum, the event included a talk about the new album, a question corner, a prize drawing, and a live segment featuring first performances of songs from STAY ~夜明けのSoul~.

Released in three editions: first press A, first press B, and the regular edition.

The nine-show tour visited Zepp Nagoya, Yokohama BLITZ, Zepp Fukuoka, Namba Hatch, Zepp Sapporo, Zepp Sendai, and Akasaka BLITZ between October 2 and November 25.

The band's first free live performance drew about 5,000 people. Yuri Nakamura and Hitoshi Okamoto performed as a duo, including 夢みたあとで and Stay, then handed postcards directly to album purchasers.

Held at NHK Osaka Hall.

A tenth-anniversary best album containing all 31 singles in release order across two discs, plus the new song As the Dew, the opening theme for Detective Conan. Every track was remastered by Ted Jensen. The first press edition also included a Premium Disc with 15 selected tracks.

The seven-show anniversary tour ran from Tokyo International Forum Hall A on February 27 to Grand Cube Osaka on March 27. Over Drive was performed for the first time during the encore, and MINIQLO's debut single Paralyzed Frequency was sold exclusively at the venues.

Over Drive was released as the first single of their 10th-anniversary project.

On the release date, a mini-concert was held at the LaLaport Toyosu main stage in collaboration with Detective Conan. It was the first event outside a concert at which all four members appeared together. Yuri Nakamura and Hitoshi Okamoto later appeared as MINIQLO at Nishinomiya Gardens on April 18.

The first single of the band's tenth-anniversary project and the theme song for the Detective Conan film 天空の難破船. It was their first theatrical Conan theme song. It debuted at No. 4 on Oricon, the band's highest single-chart position.

The band's first concept album, built around songs they wanted to give to important people and have them hear. It contains 16 selected tracks, including the new song 空に花火, the July ending theme for TBS's 噂の！東京マガジン, plus two rearranged versions. It was released on the same day as the concert DVD.

The DVD documents the 10th-anniversary tour and includes its first live performance of Over Drive. It was released on the same day as the concept album All Lovers.

The program was broadcast simultaneously by 20 radio stations nationwide.

As a special 10th-anniversary project, the band performed with the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra at Tokyo International Forum Hall A. Ikuro Fujiwara served as music director and conductor, all 5,012 seats were filled, and 空に花火 was performed live for the first time.

Held at Shibuya C.C. Lemon Hall, this was the band's first multi-artist event crossing label boundaries. As the headlining act, they performed six songs, including 空に花火 and a punk version of Mysterious Eyes.

Hitoshi Okamoto contributed a cover of Angels We Have Heard On High（荒野の果てに）. Yuri Nakamura performed the song during that month's tour.

The band's eighth original album, released about one year and three months after the previous one. Built around the vivid sound introduced by Over Drive, it contains ten tracks, including the album version of As the Dew and an orchestral version of 空に花火. The first press DVD includes three live performances from Symphonic Concert 2010.

This solo release came about six years after FF/REWIND and was released on the same day as GARNET CROW's parallel universe. Okamoto composed and arranged all seven tracks; AZUKI Nana wrote some of the lyrics, and Okamoto wrote Japanese lyrics himself for the first time.

The three-show tour visited Grand Cube Osaka, Nagoya City Public Hall, and Tokyo International Forum Hall A. The stage had a Christmas theme, cover songs were mixed into the original set, and the program included MINIQLO and SUPER LIGHT segments.

Held at Dojima River Forum in Osaka, closing the band's 10th-anniversary year.

The two shows, at hills Pan Kōjō in Osaka and Astro Hall in Harajuku, Tokyo, sold out quickly. This was Okamoto's first headline performance outside Osaka.

The first single of 2011 and the ending theme for Nippon Television's フットンダ. The music video was made from fans' submitted photos of smiles, and the single was released on the same day as two concert DVDs.

Released on the same day as the single Smiley Nation, the DVDs document the 2009 live-house tour and the late-2010 tour. Bonus material includes selections from the 2009–2010 countdown concert and Symphonic Concert 2010.

They performed five songs acoustically at the seaside live house on Zushi Beach in Kanagawa. It was the band's first seaside performance and the first live performance of the new single Misty Mystery.

The opening theme for Detective Conan, a dance-oriented track built around programmed sounds. Before its release, the acoustic arrangement was performed for the first time at OTODAMA SEA STUDIO 2011.

They performed a five-song acoustic mini-concert in the rain, including Misty Mystery, 短い夏, and I can't take....

The band's ninth original album, released about a year after the previous one, with 11 tracks including Smiley Nation and Misty Mystery. The music video for JUDY was made in collaboration with manga artist Hirara Natsume, while 英雄 was completed in about a week just before the production deadline.

Held at Dojima River Forum in Osaka, this was their only full-band performance in 2011 and the first live performance of ロンリーナイト from the album メモリーズ.

Green Flash was limited to concert venues, while Bootleg was limited to venues and fan-club members, with sales beginning at the countdown concert.

He headlined the final day of the three-day event, with Hirohito Furui on keyboards, performing ten songs including Lose My Breath and 海鳴り.

The band's first coupling-song collection, with 32 tracks across two discs selected by fan request from all coupling songs released between Mysterious Eyes and Misty Mystery. The regular edition includes JUDY ~English ver.~, the band's first attempt to adapt an original song into English.

The three-show tour visited Umeda Arts Theater in Osaka and TOKYO DOME CITY HALL. With a string section led by Daisuke Ikeda, Yuri Nakamura performed 君を連れ去る時の訪れを for the first time with only strings, bass, and drums.

They performed five songs acoustically at the winter-only live house inside Kandatsu Kogen Ski Resort in Niigata. Float World was performed live for the first time.

Returning to the seaside live house on Zushi Beach for a second consecutive year, they performed five songs, including Yuri Nakamura's piano-and-vocal performance of JUDY and the first performance of the new single Nostalgia.

The band's 34th and final single. It was the ending theme for Nippon Television's ハッピーMusic, was first performed before release at OTODAMA SEA STUDIO 2012, and was released on the same day as the concert DVD.

The DVD documents the March 2012 tour and was released on the same day as the single Nostalgia. Three songs from the 2011–2012 countdown concert are included as bonus material.

Held at Nakano Sunplaza Hall in Tokyo on October 6 and Dojima River Forum in Osaka on November 11. The event centered on a countdown of the ten songs fans most wanted to hear live, followed by the new single Nostalgia, for eleven songs in total.

The band's tenth and final original album. Of its ten tracks, only Nostalgia had previously been released; the others were all new songs.

The four-show tour visited Dojima River Forum in Osaka and TOKYO DOME CITY HALL. The disbandment was announced at the final show on March 30.

At the TOKYO DOME CITY HALL concert of livescope 2013 ~Terminus~, the four members suddenly announced their disbandment: they had given everything as GARNET CROW.

A complete singles collection released after the disbandment announcement. Across three discs, it contains all 35 singles released from their debut through the latest release, with every track remastered.

AZUKI Nana's farewell essay was published in the final issue of the fan-club newsletter.

The final concerts were held at Grand Cube Osaka on June 8 and 9, bringing 13 years of activity to a close.

A two-disc set of 32 songs selected by fan request from the indie mini-album through Terminus, all remastered. It includes the unreleased song バタフライ・ノット, first performed at a THE FINAL concert, and was released on the same day as the final concert DVD.

The DVD contains all 25 songs from the final concert at Grand Cube Osaka on June 9, 2013, including the previously unreleased song バタフライ・ノット performed during the encore. It was released on the same day as GARNET CROW REQUEST BEST.

Held to mark the PREMIUM BOX release, with two screenings each at Zepp Tokyo on March 15 and Dojima River Forum in Osaka on March 22. The program showed livescope 2013 ~Terminus~ and an unreleased documentary from THE FINAL, alongside stage costumes and accessories. The members did not appear.

A made-to-order limited set of 32 discs: 24 CDs containing all 167 released songs and 8 DVDs of concert footage and music videos, including the first video release of livescope 2013 ~Terminus~.

A ballad collection with every track remastered. Its bonus disc adds three live recordings from livescope 2012 and THE FINAL, released on CD for the first time.

Sold only by advance order through Musing, the set brought five concert videos, from livescope 2009 ~Yoake no Soul~ to THE FINAL, to Blu-ray and added the special disc GARNET CROW history with unreleased footage.

Seven years after the disbandment, the official website announced a project marking the 20th anniversary of their debut.

44 music videos were published, covering every single from Mysterious Eyes to 海をゆく獅子.

Previously available only on DVD in the PREMIUM BOX, the concert received its first standalone release on Blu-ray. The bonus disc Making of livescope 2013 includes the disbandment announcement for the first time.

Every single and B-side from the debut singles to Nostalgia, along with the indie release, studio albums, and best albums, became available on subscription services.

Held at Dojima River Forum in Osaka on April 29 and 30 to close the 20th-anniversary project. The screening changed by day, showing a 2002-2013 concert digest or THE FINAL, each with making-of footage including unreleased material. The photo exhibition GARNET CROW photo exhibition 2000-2013 ran alongside it, with stage costumes and production materials such as copies of faxes handwritten by Yuri Nakamura.

The 528-page book centers on photos that could not be shown at the 2022 exhibition. It was made to order through Musing, with orders accepted until June 18.

Held to mark the photo book, with two screenings a day from May 3 to 5 at hills Pan Kojo in Osaka, a venue where the band had performed. The footage matched the 2022 Dojima River Forum screenings, without the exhibits.

Originally scheduled to end in March 2021, the project was extended because of the COVID-19 pandemic and concluded on this date.
