Foreword

Founded in November 1994, music freak magazine is a free monthly magazine devoted to music. It is distributed mainly through record shops throughout Japan on the 10th of every month. Thanks to your support, we will celebrate our fifteenth anniversary in November 2009. To date, we have introduced many artists and many kinds of music.

The editorial department often receives inquiries from readers who wish to obtain past issues. Most issues, however, had sold out shortly after publication. Even so, requests for reprints continued to arrive. This led us to plan the “music freak magazine Flash Back Memories” series.

Last May, we published the first volume, *music freak magazine Flash Back ZARD Memories*, bringing together ZARD features from the magazine’s past issues. In July 2009, we published the second volume, *music freak magazine Flash Back Mai Kuraki 10th Memories*, to mark the tenth anniversary of Mai Kuraki’s debut. Both books received a warm response from many readers.

The third volume in the series is devoted to GARNET CROW, another group that has been especially popular in this magazine.

GARNET CROW first appeared in our pages in Vol.61, published on December 10, 1999, when they had just independently released their first mini-album, *first kaleidscope 〜君の家までずっと走ってゆく〜*. From then to the present, whenever they released a work or held a concert, we introduced both the work and the feelings they had poured into it.

Beginning with Vol.82, we also ran the relay column *GARNET CROW’s “word scope in M.F.M”*, written in turn by the four members. As of October 2009, the column is still continuing and has become music freak magazine’s longest-running and most popular feature. This volume includes the series as well.

This book records GARNET CROW’s ten-year journey from their debut to the present. The entire editorial department sincerely hopes that, as you look back over each feature, you will once again feel the beauty of their music. Please take your time turning the pages and savoring them.
