Hello, everyone. This time, YURI NAKAMURA will introduce some movies she recommends. I often watch films on my days off. When I want to see a new release, I try to go to the cinema whenever possible. For older films, or films I was unable to see in theaters, I watch them later on DVD.

♥ “Chicago”
The story has such a good tempo that I watched it in no time. I like the way Renée Zellweger's character uses a scandal to climb her way up in the world of show business. She is devilish, yet incredibly cute and impossible to hate. Catherine Zeta-Jones's dancing is also powerful and very cool. It is a film with something different from an ordinary movie, almost like watching a Broadway musical, so I definitely recommend it to anyone interested in singing and dancing.

♥♥ “Moulin Rouge!”
In a word, “sumptuous” is exactly right. I was captivated by the atmosphere and costumes of late-nineteenth-century Paris. I felt as if I had traveled back in time and was dreaming in that world. I enjoyed the way songs by Madonna, the Beatles, and others were used in the play within the film. If you like fantastical worlds, please give it a try.

♥♥♥ “Men in Black”
All the aliens living on Earth disguised as humans were so cute that I could not help laughing. They are not scary at all, even though they are aliens; I found myself thinking that living with aliens like these might actually be fun… (laughs). The exchanges between Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as they seriously face the aliens are funny too, and made me laugh. I like that, even though it is a comedy, it is not too lightweight—it is cool and stylish. The story is simple and easy to follow, so I think people of all kinds can enjoy it. There are many films featuring aliens, but this kind of fun story is my favorite.

♥♥♥♥ “The Ten Commandments”
It is a film from about fifty years ago, but the colors in the picture are vivid, especially the beautiful blue, which left a strong impression on me. It is a somewhat long movie, but it is full of spectacular scenes, including the vast desert landscapes where Moses wanders, the large-scale scenes using extras as he leads the Hebrews to freedom, and of course the famous scene in which the sea parts in two. The gold and blue colors felt like symbols of wealth and peace. It made me realize once again how important it is for people to care for one another.

YURI NAKAMURA: Vocalist and composer for GARNET CROW. Their new song “Kimi no Omoi Egaita Yume Atsumeru HEAVEN” will air as the opening theme for the TV Tokyo anime “MÄR” (Sundays, 10:00–10:30 a.m.) from April. She has also provided music for Sayuri Iwata's new song “Sorairo no Neko.” This work is attracting attention as her first collaborative composition with AZUKI NANA for a song provided to another artist.
