History 1999–2009
GARNET CROW will celebrate its 10th anniversary next March! To mark the occasion, we have picked out the pages where they have appeared over the years!! Alongside this issue’s feature, let’s trace their journey as they enter their tenth year!
1999
December issue (VOL.61) GARNET CROW’s first appearance in music freak magazine! A column on their 1st mini album 『first kaleidscope ～君の家までずっと走ってゆく～』 was published.
2000
March issue (VOL.64) A column on 「Mysterious Eyes」 and 「君の家に着くまでずっと走ってゆく」, released simultaneously on March 29 as their first major-label works, was published.
May issue (VOL.66) A column on their 3rd single 「二人のロケット」, released May 17, was published.
September issue (VOL.70) A column on their 4th single 「千以上の言葉を並べても...」, released September 27, including the members’ first comments.

Q: What would you like to try in the future?
AZUKI Nana: Above all, I want to write lots of songs.
Hirohito Furui: I want to mix new things with what I have learned so far and create even higher-quality sounds that are not disposable.
Hitoshi Okamoto: Guitar playing that hits the vital point!
Yuri Nakamura: I would like to keep making songs that let people feel the seasons. I also want to create works that convey the image of GARNET CROW through photographs and video.
October issue (VOL.71) An interview with the members about their 5th single 「夏の幻」, released October 25, was published.

Q: In connection with the title 「夏の幻」, please tell us about a memorable “summer memory.”
Nakamura: I look forward to going to fireworks festivals every summer. Unfortunately, I could not go this year…
AZUKI: I could not go swimming this year. I’m going to the pool now!
Okamoto: Probably the grueling club activities I did in high school.
November issue (VOL.72) A column on their 6th single 「flying」, released November 29, was published. An interview about Hitoshi Okamoto’s solo maxi single 「First fine day」, released November 8, was also published.
December issue (VOL.73) The members took part in the year-end feature survey “A Musical Journey Through 2001.” All of them answered questions including their Top 5 personal album selections of 2000.
2001
January issue (VOL.74) An interview with the members and Liner Notes about their 1st album 『first soundscope ～水のない晴れた海へ～』, released January 31, were published.

Q: Did you have anything like a concept when making the album?
Nakamura: We consciously tried to bring out the neo-acoustic and acoustic elements, which are also part of GARNET CROW’s roots, more strongly. We wanted to make an album that could be seen as GARNET CROW’s starting point.
Furui: Rather than simply reproducing the genre called neo-acoustic as it was, I wanted to evolve it further.
May issue (VOL.78) They appeared on the cover of M.F.M. for the first time.
A column with comments from the members about their 7th single 「Last love song」, released May 9, was published.
June issue (VOL.79) A column with comments about Hitoshi Okamoto’s solo maxi single 「Sweer×2 Summer Rain」, released June 20, was published.
August issue (VOL.81) A column on their 8th single 「call my name」, released August 8, was published.
September issue (VOL.82) The series [GARNET CROW’s word scope in M.F.M.] began.
November issue (VOL.84) The members’ Self Liner Notes on their 9th single 「Timeless Sleep」, released November 21, were published.

●About 「Timeless Sleep」
Okamoto: The tearjerker melody explodes. I think it feels like GARNET CROW’s character has been made even stronger and taken one step further. It is perfect for the season too.
2002
January issue (VOL.86) They contributed handwritten postcards to the New Year feature.

This is the memorable page where GARNET CROW first appeared in the magazine!
Vol.64
To commemorate their major-label debut, the newcomers received a two-page feature!
Vol.78
Their memorable first cover of music freak magazine! By this time, the number of GARNET CROW fans among our readers had grown rapidly! So many requests for a regular series reached the editorial department that the series began four issues later!
Vol.82
The series began. Still running today, this extremely popular feature is the longest-running artist series in music freak magazine! The first installment was given a full page as a commemorative feature; since then, it has appeared on half a page every month.
