Some respondents gave highly specific answers, such as “salmon pink” rather than simply “pink,” or “pure white” rather than simply “white.” If we had standardized those answers—for example, treating “salmon pink” as “pink” and “pure white” as “white”—the results would probably have changed considerably, but this time we tabulated the shades separately!

The answers for AZUKI 七 were divided among quite a wide range of colors. What was especially striking was the large number of distinctive answers such as “azuki-bean color,” “cream,” “wisteria,” and “soda.”

The answers for Okamoto came in every color of the rainbow. The most striking point was that many respondents chose “sky blue” rather than the expression “light blue”!

The image of Furui was remarkably consistent: more than half of the respondents chose “black.” Even among the colors below seventh place, there were many subdued shades such as navy and dark gray, and most were cool colors.
