The building was designed by Shin'ichiro Okada, who also designed the Kabuki-za Theatre in Ginza and Hakurando in Jinbocho. It was the first public hall building in western Japan to be designated a national Important Cultural Property. Preservation and renovation work was completed in 2002, renewing the lighting, sound, and stage equipment while preserving the dignity of the building at the time of its construction and its magnificent, elegant beauty, allowing audiences to enjoy a highly immersive stage experience.
