◆ Always use sage; relaxed conversation is encouraged.
◆ Do not inconvenience other people.
◆ Do not post fake information; it annoys people.
◆ Flooders, age-posters, delusion posters (especially negative ones), people dragging in other artists, perverts, and people demanding answers are mostly bait and provocation. Ignore them completely.
◆ Remember that this is an anonymous forum. Fixed names are disliked.
◆ If a post is unbearable, use a dedicated browser to filter the ID, fixed name, or phrases as NG words.
◆ Mobile users cannot block spam fixed names and flooders, so it may look as if they are not ignoring them. Ignore them completely. If you respond, you are no different from a flooder.
◆ Avoid wording and posts that make you look embarrassing as a person.
◆ Hardcore Yuri Nakamura worshippers must not use this thread; go to the dedicated thread.
◆ >>950 will create the next thread. Subtitles are forbidden. Keep template edits sensible.
◆ If the thread becomes too outrageous, someone may request its deletion.
◆ Do not post virus code or old posts.
◆ Strongly reject self-conversation by self-play posters. When you see something like that, treat the person as pathetic and ignore them with dignity.
◆ Always ignore posts by spam fixed names. If you respond, you are equally embarrassing.

I saw Yurippe appearing on a radio program at Mugen. She has pierced ears.
She really did it—and she is wearing a ring too.
41
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/03 23:01 | ID:woolmrQW0
Then GARNET CROW is finished.

Are you sure it was a piercing?
These days there are more ear cuffs with elaborate designs, and many people around me choose ear cuffs rather than getting a piercing now.
49
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/04 00:19 | ID:3JhlPcW+0
It was a “piercing,” though it did not say it was in the ear. The ear? Or maybe the lip...

If they are going to end, I hope they release one powerful, impactful song at the end.
I do not want it to end halfheartedly like this.
Still, as long as the regular 10,000 fans stay with them, they probably will not end.
61
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/04 12:00 | ID:J/yDpN/30
The mass-market trajectory:
5th → singles continue the *MÄR* tie-in, affecting the overall unity of the next album → 6th, no worse than the previous one, moves toward singles and mass appeal → used in an anime, gradually losing even the dark coloring → fans lose trust in the production → 7th has originality, but may have exhausted its ideas and becomes easy to tire of → even the dried-squid metaphor no longer matters → if darkness is what people want, there is music with noise, gothic metal, grunge, and modern taste → 8th becomes bloated, and the songs become poor → sales slump; forget surpassing the previous album → fans leave in large numbers → ...
62
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/04 14:35 | ID:35IAhRuK0
He is obviously a hater, so why does he know so much about the *MÄR* tie-in continuing and the fifth album being aimed at the mainstream? lol
It would be cute if he criticized them without knowing anything, but researching every detail before hating is truly disgusting. lol
And he is doing it during a holiday weekend. What a pitiful hater.

This is genuinely impressive. Honestly. (^^)
It shows how low the level of this thread and this board is. (^^)
At first they desperately replied to posts made from a critical, negative position, and the very next reply was “His stupidity is written all over his face.”
The previous reply had just exposed their own disgrace, and the next one says “His stupidity is written all over his face.”
That is probably what a real idiot looks like. (^^) lol
I think the regulars here should treasure someone like this. (^^)
Apart from the Bansalō board, I do not think you would find another idiot like this; he is a rare specimen. (^^) lol
Ah, this is fun. (^^)
I will escape before that kid who keeps yelling “self-conversation” arrives. lol

91: Yukio ◆cXPIJRknUY, November 1, 20:49:11
Someone said in this thread that there are people who understand things like tension chords and modulation. (Well, perhaps only one or two in the old threads.)
Mr. Yukio seems to have rather questionable knowledge after all. lol
I was surprised that he interpreted the first track of GARNET's new release as having a dark-ambient, decadent feeling. (・∀・)/~~~
Can someone explain tension chords and modulation? Also, does anyone know whether this release uses a lot of programmed drums, only a few, or none at all?
94
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/05 10:14 | ID:/hQhIOXi0
I feel that the old man's arrangements have started to become monotonous lately.
I know simplicity and the same old monotony are different things, but perhaps I am speaking beyond my expertise...
95
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/05 15:55 | ID:q1iB5by/0
In this day and age, arrangements as brilliant as the synthesizer in the chorus of “Himawari” or the intro of “Marginal Man” exist nowhere except among Being-affiliated arrangers.
96
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/05 16:10 | ID:uCh5Cyx00

The guitar tone on the indie-era album is so good.
“Futari no Rocket,” “Eien ni Nemure,” and “A Crown”—why do they not use that kind of sound anymore?
The rhythm-section sound is great too.

As for “Futari no Rocket” itself, I still prefer the first-album version.
The bass and drums were recorded with real instruments.
The instruments and the song's development fit together very well.

Could it be a violinist?

I do not know whether you were baiting people or genuinely thought that, but I do not think an ordinary fan needs to know music in such detail.
I remember thinking something similar before. In one of Yukio's replies—I do not remember whether it was actually his—there was talk of tension chords, and someone replied that it was looking down on people.
I wondered, “Was I being looked down on?”
I do not even know what a tension chord is, but I do not think not knowing prevents anyone from enjoying music.
Of course, if someone claims to love music but does not even know what a melody or riff is, that is somewhat troublesome.
But you do not need to know chords too.
At the end of the day, it is just music; there is no need to take it that seriously.

I have to tilt my head and wonder why that reply summoned such a long response.

I am probably the one who started talking about tension chords. It was when Cloudberry Jam came up, right?
But that kind of thing is completely unnecessary for listening to songs.
I only use theory when putting music into words.
Still, people should know a term like “riff” to some extent... and perhaps that is not really theory.

I have not encountered a depressive song this good in a long time.
It is so depressive that it makes you lose sight of the meaning of your own life; I think this is the first song I have heard like that.

However, one of the administrators has zero interest in male artists' work, so I do not think it is the same person.

At Pan Kōjō:
Numbers 1–4 are definitely front row.
Number 5 is safe.
Number 6 can get there as long as you are not pushed out.
Number 7 is questionable.
Numbers 8–9 are basically hopeless, unless you are part of the gang; then you can reach the front.
In the 10s, people cut in using their special tricks. Majin, Shioriina, aki-hamamatsu, and their followers all go to the front.
In the 20s, who can still reach the front?
Regardless of number, some Uto otaku is in the center of the front row.
Still, some people dawdle or deliberately do not move forward, so it is not always exactly like this.

If you reject programmed instruments, then the only “live” elements in GARNET are Mochi's guitar and Yuri's vocals.
Most of the old man's parts are also programmed samples entered in real time.
Given Azuki's playing ability, there would be little point in bringing her into the studio to perform.
313
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/11 00:11 | ID:cXEgSctC0
If you equate programmed instruments with weightlessness and say they are unnecessary, how could you listen to GARNET?
Are they not essential to the first album's songs and the more fantastical tracks?
If real instruments were thundering through “Crystal Gauge,” it would no longer be “crystal.”
For band-like songs such as the *MÄR* tie-ins, I think real instruments should be used.
But if they use real instruments halfheartedly, I would rather they program everything from the beginning.
I find Hirohito Furui's bass lines interesting. It is the drums that are the problem...
314
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/11 00:20 | ID:LMeAHpBo0
If they use real instruments, they need a drummer among the members.
And the two of them are keyboard players anyway. There would not be much point in making the keyboards live either.
One could play piano and the other something like a celesta or harpsichord, and two keyboard instruments would be acceptable, but the range of tones and resonance would still worry me.
The old man should occasionally make sounds that do not depend on drums.
If he uses them, they should do more than merely keep the beat.

Regarding “You know the nicknames so well...”: people post this level of information both here and elsewhere.
It is strange to be treated as suspicious for that alone. I am a newcomer and simply wanted to try asking.
Sorry if I gave the wrong impression.
I also want to know things that cannot be found by searching online.
I heard multiple posts are not allowed, so I started with what interested me most.

I really have been lurking properly, and I am old enough to go to live shows alone without a companion. This year I have attended around ○○ shows, though unfortunately none were GARNET.
I did not come here to argue or cause trouble.
> Go to a fan site.

I knew this was not an environment for calm conversation, but people like this really are everywhere.
You cannot even have a conversation.
For the record, I run a fan site, have real-life friends from live shows, and work for a living.
At least speak properly.
Is driving away a first-time visitor the etiquette here?
Even if asked online, I would not reveal personal information, so there is no point asking.
That is why I asked on a well-known site.

Are you planning to keep this going?
Or are you simply unable to ignore things?
I already told you I had lurked for more than six months.
Do you really think you are the ones who are right?
I doubt it.
If you want to talk so badly, go to a fan site. People who do not belong will really be blocked there, and there are administrators too.
Do you even understand what this place is? I do not think so.
I will lurk for a while, so speak with that in mind.
You were the ones who first said to ignore me, not me.
373
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/12 01:20 | ID:PASq92I10
> Are you planning to keep this going?
No. You were the one who jumped in.
> I have lurked for more than six months.
That is not enough in your situation. After lurking for six months, you should start on the beginners' board.
Did you not finish lurking and immediately start posting on a regular board?
> Do you really think you are right?
That is a huge leap.
> If you want to talk, go to a fan site.
You are the one who jumped in first. lol
> Do you understand what this place is?
Who should be asking that? lol
> Speak with the fact that I will lurk in mind.
That is an incredibly condescending tone.
Summary: You jumped in voluntarily, then tried to push everyone away by provoking them. Classic attention-seeking behavior.
You began politely asking a question, but the moment someone said something, you became angry and increasingly aggressive. Now you even say, “I will lurk for a while, so remember that when you post.” It is pitiful.
You are clearly an attention-seeking oddball.
I return your own advice: if you want to talk so badly, go to a fan site.
You asked the question in the first place, so go ask it elsewhere with the same attitude. You will be attacked 100% of the time.

>>373
You really never learn. Is that all you have to say?
Are you managing this place? How ridiculous.
I do not want to be forced to start on a beginners' board; who made that rule? It is just your personal decree.
There is nothing far-fetched about my point. I asked a question, then you suddenly decided to ignore me—that is the leap. Stop justifying yourselves.
Are you an administrator? If not, stop acting self-righteous.
I think asking whether this is how 2ch works is the correct response when things get this absurd.
You claim to ignore me while responding to everything. Defending your own people is ugly, and you are the condescending ones.
Summary: Who is the attention-seeker here?
The internet is broad, but this place is narrow. Is politely asking a question not basic etiquette when meeting someone for the first time?
You ignored a first-time visitor immediately—is that etiquette?
Stop defending your own people.
The ones who cannot ignore this and are clearly attention-seekers are you.
Your repeated “you, you, you” in the latter half does not sound very adult either.
People cannot ask questions because there are too many people like you in this kind of environment.
I have never had this experience on a fan site.
In any case, calm down.

Good evening. I reflected a little, so please forgive the parts where I went too far.
I had absolutely no intention of flooding the board, but it seems to have happened anyway. Sorry.
Apparently I buttoned my shirt wrong from the beginning.
Because I mentioned three artists, you probably mistook me for a flooder.
I actually got a ticket for the December 20 live show, thanks to a real-life friend, and I am interested in Yuri's singing.
I like fast songs and artists with high vocal ranges, and I think volume is especially important, so those were the criteria behind my question.
Fan sites are fine, but as I said, constant praise of everything does not feel right; I feel the same way about my real-life friends.
That is why I asked here.
It is difficult to say much now, but that was the feeling with which I asked.
I am sorry for posting things that made people uncomfortable.
I will do more research myself.
I am looking forward to the live show.

I think GARNET CROW's atmosphere has something in common with Pocket Biscuits.

That is probably what he meant.
If they have been unable to resolve it since the second live show, and that is why there have been no additional shows, it feels as if they will fail to resolve it this time too and the tour will end without one...
There absolutely must be an additional show.

Even a live house would be fine; I hope they come...
Artists in GIZA who sell less than GARNET still actively hold live shows, so perhaps the issue is GARNET rather than GIZA.
Maybe it goes like this:
Fans send postcards and messages saying, “Please hold a live show. (^-^)”
The members say, “It is a nuisance, and it does not make much money. We do not really want to do it... Fine, then this year we will limit it to Tokyo and Osaka.”
Or perhaps they simply do not like going out.

名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/13 05:30 | ID:GQUTDGUp0
Yurippe is supposedly busy with studio work, but if she only has to record fifteen songs, two days should be plenty.
Apart from recording vocals, she hardly does anything, right?
Does she not just compose by casually tapping at a piano at home and finishing in an instant?
Is she actually free every day and simply living lazily?
446
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/13 08:35 | ID:d48CG7XwO
That does not sound like something a fan would say; it is very tactless.
The vocal takes may recently be done in one take, but composition cannot possibly be completed that quickly.
Creating music is a long and painful job, and producing a work with four people while maintaining a certain quality must take enormous energy.
If anything, the fact that they have been releasing work so frequently lately makes me want to ask them to rest a little.
They seem to be doing well themselves, though, so it is fine.
447
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/13 10:32 | ID:lPYGg6YY0
Still... the *MÄR* tie-in will probably ultimately be judged as bad songs.
There is no need to release songs so desperately.
When the lyrics, music, and arrangement are all made to follow an anime, once you realize the music was created from the perspective of “providing a song for an anime,” it becomes impossible to emotionally connect with it.
This is especially true of “Atsumeru” and “Kaze to Rainbow.”
The creators themselves surely understand this.
Still, having to swallow things reluctantly is probably what “adult arrangements” means.

Yurippe aside, Nana must be free every day.
451
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/13 14:17 | ID:ngx1+KI00
I think writing lyrics is quite mentally demanding for Nana, so she must be tired.
People say that in an artist's work, lyrics are the most demanding, time-consuming, and difficult part.
She also has to practice keyboard so her technique does not deteriorate.
When you think about it, live shows are what would make Yurippe busiest.
For someone accustomed to being lazy, live shows might be stressful and exhausting.
It makes sense to think that Yurippe, who dislikes hassle, does not want to do live shows.
452

| 2006/11/13 17:40 | ID:HC/5RPZD0
Wait. Why blame Ms. Nakamura for postponed releases?

Rather, I think she is the kind of person who works hard to create and properly express her work, and I respect her for that.

460
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/13 18:49 | ID:Qo+N1Ntb0
I think Yukio is a god.
About seven years ago during New Year's, I went with my parents to a monjayaki restaurant in Shizuoka City run by Yukio's family.
While the three of us were eating around the griddle, Yukio suddenly came in wearing stylish Italian clothes that did not fit the restaurant.
He said, “The usual,” and was about to go upstairs when the high-school students in the restaurant shouted, “Mr. Yukio!” and “Yukio, you are so cool!”
He came back and it turned into an impromptu autograph session. He signed colored paper for all thirteen or fourteen customers present.
When he learned the students were on the soccer team at Shizuoka Gakuen, Kaz's old school, he chatted with them cheerfully.
Then he said, “See you next time,” and went upstairs, leaving the restaurant quiet.
My parents and I were excited by his friendliness and handsomeness. When we finished eating and went to pay, the waitress—Yukio's sister—pointed upstairs and said, “He already paid for all of your meals today. Please come again.”
I was truly amazed.

I only once saw him on another board tell someone else to talk about music first, then enjoy filling in the other person's missing knowledge.
Although he seems to have extensive background knowledge, he only discussed sound and history.

Before I die, even for just one day, I want to relive my elementary-school days: lively classes, playing outside in P.E., and playing until evening after school. I want to walk home through the sunset and the scent of sweet olive while my family welcomes me with “Welcome home.” I want to chat while watching TV, eat my mother's dinner, watch a movie with everyone after my bath, then get sleepy before it ends and crawl into bed. I would hate to leave that room, but consciousness would soon fade... and then I would want to die.

If anything, I am more curious how you became a GARNET fan. I am basically from the Conan generation too... Thinking about it, the first time I learned Osaan's name was through Komatsu's work.
648
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/19 21:53 | ID:r84N42Tn0
There are surprisingly many people who are uninterested even when the members provide songs. Not just Osaan; Hitoshi Okamoto (Mochi, or Oka-Mochi) has contributed too.
649
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/19 22:01 | ID:735OfdWi0
Even if they contribute, the musical style naturally changes from what they do with GARNET, so it is understandable that some people are not interested.

As for how I became a GARNET fan... What was it again? I had heard the name GARNET CROW somewhere, learned at a CD shop that their sound was distinctive, borrowed an album, and got hooked.
652
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/19 22:13 | ID:htwEDaRq0
It is painful when someone assumes everyone's path to becoming a fan was Conan. That is such a narrow view...
653
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/19 22:14 | ID:2BhxTF6t0
I like B'z → there are no other good musicians now → I like older acts such as DEEN and T-BOLAN → I found a DEEN golden-era M-stage video on YouTube; the combination of rock and the members' piano parts was fantastic → I remembered that those people called Garnet Crow had a similarly cool style → I only knew Yume mita ato de and Kimi to Iu Hikari, so I checked YouTube → everything was a masterpiece and the arrangements were the best → compilation → Twilight → became a fan.
654
653 | 2006/11/19 22:15 | ID:2BhxTF6t0
Come to think of it, how did I know Yume Mita and Kimi Hikari? It was probably Conan after all.

Nobody said everyone came in that way, idiot. lol But it is true that people still say, “Oh, they are the Conan people.” That is mostly a thing of the past now.
656
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/19 22:40 | ID:THXGFfIY0
For me: I became interested because of Rai Rai A → I only knew Yume mita ato de and flying; I thought they were an anime-song act, so I kept my distance, but then checked YouTube → all masterpieces with the best arrangements → compilation → became a fan → Twilight. They can rank near the top of Oricon, so I think they are fairly mainstream, but many people around me still do not know them. Someone even said the other day, “Oh, they are the people who do Western music,” orz.
657
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/19 22:48 | ID:ojfkkP6K0
For me: I learned about them from Conan's Mysterious Eyes → heard flying in TALES and thought it was pretty good, but did not listen seriously → rented last year's compilation; although I rented it, I did not listen for months → finally listened to it, initially thought it was nothing special, but for some reason kept listening. Eventually I realized how great the band was and became a fan.

Mother's Lunchbox: A child was ashamed of the plain, unattractive lunches their ill mother made and secretly threw them away in a school bathroom. One day the child cruelly rejected a lunch containing poorly peeled shrimp and told her never to make one again. The mother stopped, grew weaker, and died six months later. In her diary, the child found notes about how her hands trembled and she could not peel the shrimp properly, followed by “I'm sorry.”

I have listened since the first album, but I thought they were only good through the third. I looked at the Amazon reviews and laughed at how unusually high the fifth album's ratings were.
746
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/23 05:40 | ID:QmkmHzNBO
I also think they were good through the fourth. Personally, I can put the first four albums on roughly equal footing. The individual songs on the fifth are not necessarily bad, but as an album I cannot see what is good about it.

Those must be kitchen-fan hype reviews. The fifth can be called GARNET's blemish.
749

That is harsh.
750
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/23 11:02 | ID:7F5oBHWx0
The fifth was Yurippe's labor of love and a record she was proud of. Calling it a blemish is too harsh.
751
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/23 11:09 | ID:tNjHQ25l0
The fifth was the first album I bought, and of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th, it is the best. Maybe that is because I did not hear 1–3 in real time. The first three all sound like the same formula to me.
752
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/23 11:51 | ID:kYb6yEhF0
>>750
I do not care about how emotionally invested the creators were. The 1st through 4th were high-quality works with a strong, unified worldview, but I feel this album broke that. That is why I call it a blemish. It is not slander. I used such critical wording precisely because I like them and had expectations.
753
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/23 11:51 | ID:aRxNfDW90
People who call the fifth a blemish are just as embarrassing as mindless kitchen fans: they force their opinion on others without realizing it.
754
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/23 11:53 | ID:kYb6yEhF0
Still, I should tone down replies such as “it can be called a blemish” and “kitchen reviews.” I admit that.

There are a few good songs on the fifth, too... But people who discovered them through the fifth or the Meru tie-up songs tend not to rate the earlier albums highly.
757
名無しさん@お腹いっぱい。 | 2006/11/23 12:44 | ID:Mgng6bb30

Strongly agree. Even as someone who loves the first four albums, I was terribly disappointed by the fifth. The moment I heard the opening of the first track, I knew, “Oh no, this is not good.” This was no longer the GARNET I liked; GARNET was finished. As soon as the verse began, I hit stop and sold it to Book Off.

Strongly agree. As someone awed by the run of god-tier albums from the 1st through 4th, I think the 5th is god-tier among god-tier. Especially Marginal Man—the way it grows on you has reached the realm of the divine. That is a god-tier song. Anywhere, Rusty Rail, and Himawari no Iro are also great growers. The fifth is an album of growing classics. Yurippe's divine compositions, Nana's divine lyrics, Osaan's divine arrangements, Hitoshi Okamoto's divine guitar... Every aspect shows that GARNET is a band of creator-gods.

They are not children; they know this without being told. GIZA—and most of the industry—clearly follows a policy of knowingly leaving it alone. If you truly cannot accept that, then even if ticket prices soar, propose a system that manages every purchaser, greatly increase the staff, enforce identity checks, and collect signatures from a substantial number of fan-club members. Charging ahead on emotion and preaching morality, as you do, is worse than scalpers because it only makes the issue less clear.
