Am I in the minority for liking the “MÄR” songs? The lyrics are kind of whatever, though.

If you listen closely to “Gathering Melodies Heaven,” it’s actually pretty well written. It seems to capture the awkwardness of a couple who’ve only just started dating. Even if some parts feel childish, I’d be happy if my partner said them to me. Like, “I want to take away your sad memories.”

I’ve said this before, but I think those lyrics are from a mother watching over her child—or maybe seeing them off. No matter when I listen, I can’t stop crying at the start of the second verse. Seriously, it’s probably the most tearjerking Gane song.

Honestly, it seems hard to write a perfect song that has no overlap whatsoever with any song still under copyright. You can’t exactly check every song out there. With music everywhere and melodies already feeling saturated, a few accidental similarities are probably unavoidable.

Even if you set out to write a new song, melodies stored in your head can come out unconsciously. Yurippe has listened to so much music that maybe she can’t always tell whether a melody already exists.

Can guys use songs Mochi has sung as a reference when they sing? My go-to songs are “Sen Ijou no Kotoba wo Narabete mo…” and “Crystal Gauge.”
