It's an interesting theme, so I'll play along. GARNET CROW disbands, and a definitive three-disc best-of tracing their miracle is released. Four different covers. First edition with DVD: reissue the premium edition that included the TWILIGHT~ stuff. First edition with photo book: reissue the booklet from the first-press best-of. First edition with sticker: the sticker from "Hare-dokei." Regular edition. As a four-version tie-in campaign, stick the entry tickets from all four versions on a postcard, include a return envelope with postage, and mail it in. Everyone who enters can buy a CD with GARNET CROW's final song, one track only, for 2,000 yen. It'll be sent cash-on-delivery. Shipping and handling paid by the customer. First edition: 5,000 yen plus fees. Regular edition: 4,980 yen plus fees. The best-of has one different new song on the regular and first editions. Also, you can buy a poster with your best-of for an extra 500 yen. There are 48 random poster designs. Anyone who collects all of them gets to attend a fan event. For this artwork, the first-edition covers and booklets feature all kinds of plants and animals—birds, parrots, rabbits, bats, chameleons, lizards, and more. It's a fresh world with a touch of poison, a very Garnet-style evergreen universe. There are also imaginary animals (dinosaurs?!) and even a centaur in the booklet, so please look for them. The illustrations in the A and B first-edition booklets connect, and the animals and designs are different between A and B, so please enjoy comparing them. The lizard on the first-edition B cover was designed especially at my request. The little lizard clinging to my shoulder is cute, isn't it? Be sure to check it out. The regular edition has a cool, stylish design that's very much like us. It expresses an evergreen world everyone longs for—a pure world that never fades. The booklet is in book form, and this edition has the most photos of us. We put just as much care into every design as we did the songs, with no compromises, so I hope you'll find your favorite. They're all designs I'd recommend, but I asked everyone which one they liked today, just on a whim. Azuki-san picked first edition B, Furui-san picked the regular edition, Okamocchi picked first edition A, and I picked first edition A! Was that helpful? The bonus DVDs have lots to look forward to as well. I watched them today, and the Ninna-ji live brought all the memories back. They may be running out of ideas, but most artists inevitably decline after a best-of album. Even Mai Kuraki had no filler tracks before her best-of... Are Koda Kumi and KAT-TUN about the only exceptions who sold more after their best-of?

I kinda agree that the old stuff was better and the recent songs are so-so, but are they really bad enough to say they're nothing but crap songs? People here don't rate it highly, but I like the fifth album way more than the two before it, and "Haru Matsu..." and "WEEKEND" are masterpieces to me. As for the singles after that, "Kaze to RAINBOW / Kono Te wo Nobaseba" honestly felt like their worst ever (sorry to anyone who likes them), but I think the other two singles were actually pretty good. "Namida no Yesterday" was way better than its name made me expect lol. Just because you don't like them, why call people who like the recent songs "blind, creepy otaku"?

For example, someone who became a fan around "Mysterious Eyes" heard "Futari no Rocket" as a new song, while someone who got into them through the best-of hears it as just one track on an album. Of course that changes how attached you feel to a song. But some of these nostalgia freaks seem to think it's righteous to reject GARNET CROW as they are now just because they keep looking back. It's like an old lady who can't use modern devices and won't even try to learn how to use a cellphone, even though times are changing. GARNET CROW is evolving, but they refuse to keep up. I also feel like having so much stuff online takes away the freshness of new songs. Anyway, nostalgia freaks, before you listen to the new songs, try listening to Morning Musume and then compare them with current GARNET CROW. And newbies, instead of looking down on them and calling them nostalgia freaks, understand that people have different attachments to the music. Let's meet each other halfway and get along. I've been a fan since the early days, but I think the fifth has a lot of good songs lol. People like >237 are stupid—they think their own values are the only ones that matter. Still, based on the previews, I'm not expecting much from the next album.

I preordered the first-edition B of LOCKS. Thinking about March 11 has me so excited and full of anticipation.

I like the fifth too. But I still think the first is god-tier. And the B-sides from around that time are good too.

I like the fifth. Especially tracks 4, 6, 12, 13, and 14—I love them so much they make my body tingle.

Overall, I'm not that into the fifth, but the last two tracks flow together perfectly. It's a great example of how to end an album. Ending on a bright, refreshing song like the first is good too, though. I'm not a fan of ending with a remix like the third.

The fifth album was the one that got better the more you listened to it. Especially when I listened again after going to a live. "Haru Matsu Hana no Youni" and "Rail" are the best.

Found "Crystallize" at a used CD shop, so I finally have all seven albums (five regular + one best-of + one indie). I'd like the remix album too, but... hardly anyone's gonna let that one go.

The remix of "Bokura Dake no Mirai" is kinda meh.

I want them to break into America like PUFFY. If music as cheap as PUFFY's could make it there, then Gane's serious, sophisticated music would definitely succeed. The only problem is, if most people over there don't understand music like they don't in Japan, they'll fail. Europe could be an option too. I think Yuri-ppe's distinctive singing voice would catch on in Europe and America. An American newspaper said PUFFY's lyrics were incomprehensible. They can't even promote themselves properly in Japan. Overseas is out of the question. It's not even about whether they'd make it.

I didn't know Onmyo-za toured overseas. But for metal bands, the most important thing is whether the sound is metal. So I don't think you can say GARNET CROW will be fine just because Onmyo-za is popular despite singing in Japanese. Guitar Wolf gets people's attention with their sound first, which is probably why they can play overseas in Japanese. If you're aiming for fans who focus on the singing and lyrics, I think you'd need fluent English lyrics or something. Even so, Taiwan's probably the only place they could go while keeping the songs in Japanese.

To me, Gane is the best in the world, no matter who disagrees. People call me blind, but I won't change my mind. I think if they wanted to focus on technical skill, Gane could make something pretty technical. But I feel like they deliberately keep a balance with enough catchiness to work commercially too. That might make them seem a little halfway to some people. But maybe that's what keeps them from becoming self-indulgent. Still, the singing at Ninna-ji is insanely good.

Anyway, I think the album's easy to listen to but still has plenty of depth. It fits the coming season, too, so definitely make it part of your everyday life! I love GARNET CROW. But what do you guys think about how they're selling this one? I first got into Gane through "Bokura dake no Mirai," but when they played it on Music Station, the acoustic guitar kind of floating in there really clicked with me. But I get tired easily, and even working part-time I only make a little over 80,000 yen at most. I live with my parents, but I wanna spend money on my phone and looking good, plus clothes, resident tax, and when it's cold I buy oden at the convenience store. Then there's the money I borrowed from my parents to pay back, so I've only got around 45,000 yen I can freely spend. I've got everything except the indie album and the first one on my iPod; I own the "Yesterday" and "Sekai wa" singles. Should I prioritize completing the album collection first?

I went to Tsutaya to get the album early. Even though it was noon, they'd had two stacks of five, ten copies total, out on display, and it looked like they'd all sold out. I asked the clerk and they still had stock, so I bought one. They said, "We've had several people buying them in bulk..." In the end I got the live DVD edition. I've already replayed tracks 10–11 five times.

Hmm, maybe it'll grow on me after more listens, but "Mou Ichido Waratte" is about the only album track that's moved me. The limited-edition cover is really tacky. Thirteen minutes of Ninna-ji is stingy. Yurippe looks like Yasuko Matsuyuki. Nanatsu-san looks like Oiwa from Beauty Colosseum in that photo. The songs just don't measure up to "Twilight."

Whether you like it or not, I think "Last Island" is really well-crafted. In a way, I never expected to hear this kind of song from Gane. As an album, this might be their most cohesive one yet. It's not as samey as the fifth, or as all-over-the-place as the third and fourth. The track order and transitions work pretty well too, especially around "doubt" through "Futari."
