This month Yuri Nakamura, who is participating in an R&B compilation, reports on what she has been doing.

Yuri’s big and small news: Let’s perform!

Let me suddenly ask: have you heard GARNET CROW’s new song “Timeless Sleep”? Does it not suit a clear winter sky especially well?

Speaking of which, I was unable to see the Leonid meteor shower. But I think it would be very romantic to watch meteors while listening to “Timeless Sleep -groove more call sky mix-.”

Some of you may already know that I am taking on R&B. I am not only participating in the album but also in the live performance. We have been rehearsing, and I am having so, so much fun.

The band members are all interesting people. Rehearsals are lively, and singing feels wonderful. But I will probably still be nervous at the actual performance... I hope I can avoid mistakes as much as possible and enjoy singing. I will work hard to make it a happy, excellent performance and pass all this fun on to everyone. Please look forward to it.

Nakamura participates in the compilation *GIZA studio R&B RESPECT vol.1 〜six sisters selection〜* with a cover of Groove Theory’s “TELL ME.” See feature pp.6–7 for details.

The new year has finally arrived. The new song “Naked Story” has been airing on television since January, so GARNET CROW looks set for another active year in 2002. This time it is a message from AZUKI Nana.

Hello, 2002. You are here already.

The end and beginning of the year always feels hectic. What annual events do you like? Obon, year-end, New Year, Christmas, flower viewing, fireworks, entrance and graduation ceremonies... and all sorts of other yearly events.

I do not like them.

The atmosphere in the streets and around me, as if everyone has to adjust their feelings to the calendar, always makes me resist a little. Especially at the end of the year. The decorations around Christmas seem to ask, “Are you happy? Are you happy?” It is irritating. Although perhaps I am simply thinking too much.

And year-end parties. “Forget the year”... what does that mean? I do not understand.

I do like the first shrine visit of the new year and Setsubun, though. The first shrine visit feels like one of the few moments in the year that needs no meaning or justification, yet carries a pure, understated anticipation and hope that slowly seeps in.

As for Setsubun... I like scattering beans. The important thing is to “scatter them quietly,” as if watering flowers.

So, although this transition is rather forced and the word limit is nearly up: GARNET CROW began last year by releasing an album, and this year... hmm...? We do not know the schedule yet, but we will continue working hard to make music, so please continue to support us. (Bows.)

This issue’s pages 6–7 carry a live report from the special online broadcast performance *GIZA studio R&B PARTY at the “Hills bread factory” [Horie] vol.1*, held December 15 and featuring vocalist Yuri Nakamura. The New Year card feature also includes a postcard handwritten by Nakamura; see p.11.

The new song “Naked Story” (release date undecided) is airing as the opening theme for the WOWOW anime *The Adventures of the Flying Ship* (*パタパタ飛行船の冒険*). In addition, the new single “夢みたあとで” arrives March 6.
