How is everyone?

Recently I have been touring with Rina Aiuchi as a sequencer operator and keyboardist, and I am managing to play with reasonable energy.

Actually, I was not suddenly fascinated by this recently. A few years ago, as a hobby, I quietly assembled a complete set of DJ equipment and began experimenting.

The equipment is quite complete now. I add things little by little, choosing materials carefully and trying different approaches. More and more devices now make it easy to scratch CDs, so the activity feels closer to everyday life too.

With a computer, you can record all kinds of operations and freely connect favorite songs with MP3s. We are now in an age when anyone can easily use this kind of software.

But when you study it in depth, you discover difficulties different from those of instruments such as keyboards. At a high level, it requires a very good feel for rhythm, inspiration, and judging pitch. Of course, it also varies by style.

I want to continue improving my technique and show more different sides of myself.

New song news

The new song “スパイラル,” to be released July 24 (p.48), is airing as the image song for the CX network program *感動ファクトリーすぽると*. If you want to hear it early, watch the program.

Something has ended. Or rather, it is moving toward an ending.

That was honestly what I thought when the second album was completed a little while ago.

Everything has an “end.” But rather than ending with a bang, more things—although the time they require differs—gradually fade after that point.

Popular things... the motsunabe restaurants once seen everywhere in the streets, tiramisu, tropical fish, fashion... slowly become less common. Some remain in an appropriate place, and some disappear.

Even fireworks, which seem to live for only an instant, have a “trajectory of gradually dispersing” when viewed not on a human time scale but over the lifetime of the gunpowder. They really do fade away.

Love is the same. It would be easier if it could simply end, as if both sides had lost their memories, but instead certain things linger and feelings remain... there are always loose ends. Life is like that too. So is a situation that ends without ever having flourished.

The various worlds in which each person lives from their own point of view, the earth itself, everyone’s world—none of them will probably end with a bang. They will fade away slowly, sticky, wilted, and tearful...

Hmm? The universe itself seems a little different, though. Why is that?

In the end, from the moment anything begins, it is already moving toward its end, toward the last moment.

The reason I came to the two lines at the beginning of this article is that, for me, GARNET CROW did not truly begin until “夢みたあとで” was released and production of the second album was mostly finished. Hey!

Before that I was always hazy, and I can barely remember many things even by myself. When I finally felt that it had begun, I simultaneously felt that it had ended. Since then I have kept thinking, “It is over anyway, hee hee.” Sob...

I hope the time before we enter that “loose ends” stage lasts a little longer, at least.

And so I will end on a positive note.
