GARNET CROW's “word scope in M.F.M.” (Vol.86)

GARNET CROW's live show held at Kyoto's Ninna-ji last year will finally be released on DVD on December 17, responding to fans' requests.
This time, guitarist Hitoshi Okamoto has delivered a column together with some valuable photographs!

Lately, everyone keeps urging us to switch to digital terrestrial broadcasting, don't they?
Fewer people able to watch digital TV ↑, advertising revenue down ↓—we are in serious trouble.
Oh, our household is still thoroughly analog. Naturally.
We have a huge cathode-ray-tube television. A thick, old-style TV that makes luxurious use of space and gives the picture plenty of depth!
It has a dignity all its own.
When I watched television at my parents' home, where the digital appliances are about five years ahead of ours,
I was honestly shocked.
Well, 2011 is still a little way off. Once the moment of the switchover has passed,
what on earth will appear on the screen?
Quite a few ordinary citizens like me keep holding out like this, so the commercials only become more insistent.
You need some easy-to-understand “benefit” to make it worthwhile, right?
If the whole country is going to promote digital terrestrial TV, then the Japan national soccer team had better qualify for the World Cup.

The photo feature is “I Found a Little Autumn—Calendar Photo Shoot Edition.”
When this season comes around, activities like this become essential too.
I am dressed as an airport maintenance technician, or perhaps a dam management engineer.
Each member is dressed as a different character.

GARNET CROW's “word scope in M.F.M.” (Vol.87)

On December 17, in response to fans' requests, that special one-night-only live show held at Kyoto's World Heritage site Ninna-ji last year to commemorate “The Year of Seven” will finally arrive on DVD! In 2008, they spent an active year releasing new work and performing live, so we can look forward to what they do next year too!
For the final installment of the series in 2008, AZUKI NANA has contributed a column.

The red turnips have been laid out to dry. I spent several hours gazing at them blankly.
I had gone out looking for autumn leaves, but this sight caught my eye, drew me in, and before I knew it I ended up spending time with the red turnips until sunset.
There was a faint blue sky visible beyond them, but it was an extremely cold day.
By the time I left, there were a few photographers taking pictures of the sunset through the red turnips.
There were daikon radishes drying right beside them, yet for some reason everyone was framing their shots through the red turnips. Hmm… why?
Was it the red turnips or the carrots that turned red from soaking too long in a hot spring?
Did the daikon turn white because it was washed too much?
…Ah… memories really do become hazy, don't they…
Hmm, all the commotion over the millennium and the new century still feels like it happened only recently,
but eight years have passed already. 2008… I suppose that is a rather in-between year…
This year, GARNET acquired—or perhaps welcomed?—a lovable character called “Hacchan,”
and now the year is already about to leave us.
Will another new character be born next year!?
So, continuing with years as the theme, please take “2009” for the next topic.
