GARNET CROW 10th Anniversary Special
This is the final installment of GARNET CROW 10th Anniversary Special [more GARNET CROW life], which has been presented throughout the year commemorating GARNET CROW’s 10th anniversary.
For the finale, we present the GARNET CROW members’ answers to [Questions for GARNET CROW] submitted by readers.
The questions were divided into six groups: [Songs], [Live], [Members], [Ten Years], [The Future], and [Other]. We would like to thank all the members for taking the time to answer so many questions despite their busy schedules.

● What is your favorite song among GARNET CROW’s songs?
Yuri Nakamura (hereafter Nakamura): “The Crack-up.” Since we have just released a new album, it makes a particularly strong impression on me.
Hitoshi Okamoto (hereafter Okamoto): I can’t choose just one... From the new album, “strangers.”
Hirohito Furui (hereafter Furui): The song I like changes from time to time, so I can’t narrow it down. But my current favorite from this album is probably “strangers”!
AZUKI Nana (hereafter AZUKI): I can’t decide.
● What song would you like to cover with GARNET CROW?
Nakamura: Various Western songs. Rihanna, Beyoncé, and so on?!
Okamoto: Old favorites.
Furui: Eric Clapton’s “Change the World.”
AZUKI: A classical work.
● You performed with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in August. Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Nakamura: I would love to work with people from the anime, film, and jazz worlds, as well as with choirs.
Okamoto: I would like to perform with an orchestra again.
Furui: Anyone who would have me......
AZUKI: It was fun, so I would like to work with an orchestra again.
● Of all the television and radio programs you have appeared on, which do you remember most?
Nakamura: My first television appearance.
Okamoto: A live performance before a public audience.
Furui: [HEY! HEY! HEY!]
AZUKI: [All Night Nippon]
【About live performances】
● What do you always do before a live performance?
Nakamura: Write 人・人・人 (“person, person, person”) on my palm and swallow it.
Okamoto: Have something to eat.
Furui: Warm-up exercises.
AZUKI: Wash my hands.
● What kind of place or venue would you like to perform at in the future?
Nakamura: A beach. I would like to sing while being blown by the sea breeze.
Okamoto: An outdoor venue when the temperature is comfortable.
Furui: We’ll perform anywhere!!
AZUKI: Somewhere outdoors.
● If you were to hold another World Heritage live concert, where would it be?
Nakamura: Anywhere is fine. A castle would be wonderful.
Okamoto: Egypt.
Furui: If possible, I would like it to be somewhere that is easy for everyone to get to......
AZUKI: Anywhere that will let us.
● Of the songs you have performed live, which left the strongest impression on you?
Nakamura: “Holy ground,” which we performed at Ninna-ji. The blue glow sticks were so beautiful that I still remember them.
Okamoto: “Spiral” at the Kobe University festival.
Furui: Hmm, I don’t know (・_・;
AZUKI: That’s difficult!
● Do you have any stories about mistakes during live performances? (Ones that no one around you noticed.)
Nakamura: Once, I jumped from the drum platform and the impact was much stronger than expected. It startled me and made it difficult to get my voice out.
Okamoto: I try to forget minor mistakes that are too small for anyone around me to notice.
Furui: My sunglasses nearly flew off (laughs).
AZUKI: There was still candy in my mouth.
● What places would you like to visit on a live tour?
Nakamura: Anywhere abroad.
Okamoto: Overseas, if anywhere is fine.
Furui: People from many different regions often ask us to come, so I would like to visit as many prefectures as possible.
AZUKI: Anywhere.
● What is the most memorable live-performance scene you have experienced?
Nakamura: The pop-up during the Best Tour.
Okamoto: The Ninna-ji concert. Everything was fresh, from the dressing room and the stage to the surroundings.
Furui: Probably the night at Ninna-ji......
AZUKI: A school festival.

Okamoto: All the members ⇒ turtles
Furui: Nakamura ⇒ squirrel / Okamoto ⇒ raccoon / AZUKI ⇒ Bambi (fawn) / myself ⇒ giraffe
● Which members do you think have changed over the past ten years?
Nakamura: Furui. I feel he gets funnier every year.
Okamoto: I haven’t changed, or perhaps everyone has changed by about the same amount.
Furui: I suppose everyone has changed in various ways, at least a little?
● What do you respect about each member?
Nakamura: AZUKI ⇒ her literary talent / Okamoto ⇒ his sense / Furui ⇒ his ability as an all-round player
Okamoto: They never compromise their stance in their respective roles. Their stubbornness.
