GARNET CROW's “word scope in M.F.M” (Vol.74)

On October 20, GARNET CROW held a special live show at Ninna-ji, a World Heritage Site in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto, founded in 888 (Ninna 4). On November 14, the long-awaited new single “Sekai wa Mawaru to Iu Keredo” was released!
In the midst of all this, guitarist Hitoshi Okamoto contributes a column.

We all agree that autumn has been getting shorter in recent years, don’t we?
I had just finished an outdoor live show at Ninna-ji. When we began rehearsing for it, most of the band members were still arriving at the studio in short sleeves, but as the days went by, I watched one layer of outerwear after another being added. The final straw was the day of the show. What was that?! It was already winter. I had actually lived in Kyoto before, so I knew how cold it could be and wasn’t underestimating it, but I never imagined it would be that severe…
Still, Ninna-ji was a wonderful place! Even the dressing room was completely different. It was a perfectly preserved traditional Japanese room, and it made me feel like a literary master. Then, when I slid the room door open, there was “THE GARDEN!” right outside. The wooden floorboards creaked and creaked as I walked down the corridor! My spirits were already soaring as soon as we arrived. I hear the moon joined the stage production during the live show itself and created a wonderful atmosphere.
Thanks to the sunny-weather power of everyone who came, the rain from the previous day had also stopped. If we get another chance, I’d love to perform again in a beautiful place at a beautiful time of year.

The group announced the long-awaited new single “Sekai wa Mawaru to Iu Keredo” on November 14, and it seems they have already begun recording the next release!
The final message of the year comes from vocalist YURI NAKAMURA!!

Hello, everyone. I’m working hard on recording while saying, “It’s so coooold, so coooold,” every day. Ah, this is the season when I long for summer…
But something is different about December this year. It feels like it’s going to be hot—or rather, exciting.
What do I mean? In December, members of GARNET CROW will appear as weekly guests on α-station’s “Pastime Paradise,” hosted by our charismatic guitarist Okamocchi!
I’m scheduled for December 2, leader Furui for the 9th, AZUKI for the 16th, and all of us for the 23rd and 30th—a packed schedule has been arranged (laughs).
I’ve already made my appearance, and it was so much fun. I just had tea, chatted, and came home (laughs).
Is it really okay for it to be this casual?! I recommend the weeks with Furui and AZUKI. They’ll be talking one-on-one with Okamocchi. I wonder how it will unfold—and what kind of stories will come flying out…
December is going to be lively! Look forward to it!
