Q: Is there a part of the lyrics that Nakamura particularly likes?
Nakamura: The line “If it has no form, you only need to keep feeling it.” Love is vague and formless, even if we understand the word. But even though love has no form and cannot be seen, each person can feel it, so when I read these lyrics I thought, “That is exactly right.” We are supported by our fans and staff, and we feel love there too, so I hope everyone who listens to the song can feel love as well.

Q: About the world of the song
Nakamura: The previous single, 「今宵エデンの片隅で」, is bright, with its energy moving from the inside outward, while 「まぼろし」 is a song that moves farther and farther inward. I think we aimed for something deep, like diving into the depths of the sea or returning to the ocean. Rather than anything specific, I had a vague image of listeners being wrapped in the waves of the sound, warming up comfortably, or gently sinking into the sea while wrapped in the sound. I hope they can feel that.

Q: It feels as though the identity of GARNET CROW has become even clearer through this work.
Nakamura: We make albums to create a single world that includes things we cannot express through singles alone. In that sense, I think the album is what lets people understand our musical world best. The tracks on this one are very diverse: there are catchy songs as well as sharp songs that pursue our sound to its limits. I think it is a well-balanced work, so listeners should be able to hear it through to the end without losing focus.

Q: Both “wind” and “RAINBOW” are things that cannot actually be grasped. What image do you have of a rainbow?
Nakamura: I used to have a fairy-tale image of rainbows, but my image changed after reading these lyrics. Before, they were an extension of something like a maiden’s feelings, but now they feel cool to me. When you hear this song, you do not picture a “seven-colored rainbow,” do you (laughs)? The image here is of something slightly cold and impossible to grasp, something inorganic.

Q: 「世界はまわると言うけれど」 has a pleasant, unhurried rhythm and a sound filled with nostalgia. What scene did you imagine when making it?
Nakamura: This was the first time I built chords while listening to a drum loop and then layered a comfortable melody over those chords. I usually start with the melody, but this time I started with the rhythm. That is why I think the rhythm feels pleasant consistently from the beginning to the end. I think that leads to the song’s floating quality and the “just-right-temperature” comfort of being warmly enveloped.

Q: About this album.
Nakamura: I hope you will hear GARNET CROW’s evergreen sound in this work. I would be happy if you thought, “Has GARNET CROW added yet another drawer to its musical cabinet?” The keyword is “LOCK ON TO YOUR HEART!” (laughs).

Q: Was there anything you paid attention to while building the song?
Nakamura: The lyrics conveyed the feeling of cherishing something precisely because it is fragile, so when recording the vocals I consciously placed the words carefully in the A and B sections so that listeners could more strongly receive that image. This time, a sense of transience emerged as a kind of keyword, and I feel the image expanded from there.

Q: If you compared the two tracks to colors, what would they be?
Nakamura: 「Doing all right」 is a tricolor of red, blue, and white. 「Nora」 is beige (laughs).
Okamoto: I imagine 「Doing all right」 as orange or yellow. 「Nora」 is beige for me too (laughs).
