GARNET CROW's “word scope in M.F.M.” (Vol.96)

At long last, GARNET CROW's eagerly awaited live tour has begun. Despite her busy schedule, vocalist Yuri Nakamura has contributed some comments about the new album!

Hello, everyone~ How have you been?
The weather has recently grown cooler and every day has become more comfortable. Doesn't it make you want to take a trip somewhere? The seasons of appetite, reading, music, and exercise are finally here~ The scent of autumn air is somehow sentimental and stirs up a feeling of melancholy. It is my favorite season.

Our new album, “STAY ~Yoake no Soul~,” which is perfect for autumn, was released on September 30.
One feature of this album is that it contains many songs with romantic, wistful, and fleeting images.
“Hello Sadness” has a pleasant groove that pushes strongly forward, and I think you will be able to feel a new side of GARNET CROW. The thrilling, exciting intro, which sounds as if something is about to begin, is another highlight. I wrote “Stay” with a free feeling, as if I were singing an ad-lib. There are places where you can feel the blues and places where you can feel gospel throughout the song. It is a stylish song unlike anything we have done before, but the whole song is filled with wistfulness, so I think you will feel its melancholy. When I heard the arrangement of “Hibi no Hotori,” it reminded me of the anime “Kiki's Delivery Service.” I think the sound of the accordion will make you feel the breeze of southern France. “Rainy Soul” is packed with the melody, lyrics, and sound that can only be called quintessential GARNET CROW. I think anyone who likes our 23rd single, “Maboroshi,” will absolutely love this song.
The album turned out so well that you could call every song a favorite, and we are all extremely satisfied with it, so please give it a listen. I especially recommend it to anyone who wants to be moved or wants to cry.
The tour supporting this album begins in October! I can already strongly sense that it is going to be a truly good, wonderful live experience. The power of live sound is something you can only experience at a concert, so please come and see us live! Let's share the emotion together!
Osaka and Tokyo are also two-day shows, so we are thinking about many ways to make them enjoyable, such as changing the staging and the set menu between the first and second days. Look forward to it~ All of us are waiting for you at the venues!

Autumn is also the season for sports days. My favorite event is tamaire, throwing balls into a basket. Tug-of-war and other team competitions are exciting too, because everyone unites and gets fired up~ To everyone taking part, do your best~

So, for the NEXT topic, let's move from the autumn of music to: “What live performance have you seen that moved you?” Recently, I went to an IL DIVO concert and was intoxicated by the beauty of their harmonies. All four of them are so handsome. They looked like models, and the excited screams from the middle-aged ladies were incredible too (laughs).

GARNET CROW's “word scope in M.F.M.” (Vol.97)

With the long-awaited live tour finally in full swing, the god-hand Hirohito Furui has contributed a column!

How is everyone doing? This is Hirohito Furui of GARNET CROW!!
GARNET CROW is currently right in the middle of our tour.
We also released our seventh album, “STAY ~Yoake no Soul~,” on September 30, and are gaining momentum as we head toward our tenth anniversary.

Recently, I have been rushing through unfamiliar days, working on production alongside the tour.
Even after this tour ends, we have a countdown live planned for the end of the year, and next year's tour is already scheduled, so the busy days will continue without letting us relax. Still, I want to keep working hard so that everyone can enjoy themselves.

Now, the topic this time was “What live performance has left an impression on you?”

Lately, our schedules have rarely lined up, so I often look forward to DVDs instead, but the live performance that has stayed with me is probably one by Hall & Oates that I saw several years ago!?
It was a concert where the stage and costumes were extremely simple, allowing you to enjoy the singing itself. It also held various memories for me, and I still remember the images from when they played “Wait For Me,” one of my favorite songs.
They faithfully recreated the guitar solo too, and I was genuinely moved (laughs).

We too want to treasure every single concert, making sure that everyone who comes to see us is satisfied and that each show remains in their hearts for a long time!!

And with that, the next topic for guitarist Hitoshi Okamoto is!
The live tour will continue until next year, but if you could take some time off, what would you most like to do?
